Captivated By The Fire
I don't know why it is, but I could just stare into a fire for hours. Maybe I'm just one of those stereotypical romantics or something.
The Two Natures of Fire
- Fire's Good Nature- Fire , under the control of someone experienced, has many productive uses!
- You can cook with it
- You can propel an engine with it
- You can warm a home with it
- You can sterilize with it
2. Fire's Bad Nature-
Fire will destroy anything in it's path if it's not attended by someone with experience.
Tongues of Fire
I think it's pretty amazing that God chose to place cloven tongues like fire over the heads of those who were tarrying in the upper room on the day of Pentecost. Acts 2:3 says "“And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.”
Acts 2:3 KJVA
Fire is Power
Even people in bible times recognized the power of Fire. It's no wonder that God used that sign to associate the Holy Spirit with fire and power. “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
Acts 1:8 KJVA
Light My Fire Lord
There's part of a worship song that we love to sing that says, "Set a fire down in my soul that I can't contain. That I can control." The thing about asking God for that kind of fire is that I'm inviting him to set my soul on fire and control the blaze. I'm asking him to use the Fire of God to burn out of my control...out of my definitions of containment.
God is counting on me burning so hot that I ignite a flame in others. It's up to them whether they want the Holy Spirit to fuel the fire, or they try to control and contain it themselves. I cry out to God tonight, "Burn in me Lord!
Honestly, there's just something about a Fire!
